Is there a feature like this in the current Apple Watch software?

It'd be pointless as the watch doesn't have any connectivity without your phone.

The watch shouldn't be hard to find--it's on your wrist.

That's not true - it has wifi and bluetooth radios. It does NOT however have native GPS capabilities (uses the phone for that).

It could, potentially, report location based on the information it gets from a wifi network.

I think you would want to be able to secure it with "find my iPhone" - so no-one else can activate it. If they haven't done that, that's a problem.

(though, other than poolside or hotel rooms, I think theft of the watch will be somewhat difficult) :)
