Is there a way to set these up so that they are recurring? I thought I read that you'd be able to, but maybe that was speculation.

Only the person who you want to follow can set up repeating notifications for you.
 
You know, until you mentioned it I assumed it was a recurring notification. Then I checked, I have to re-set up the alert.

Ugh!
