iPhone 11 Find my iPhone

My son just misplaced his phone at school. Luckily he found it in his PE locker. What’s strange is the last place find my iPhone saw his phone was at his younger brother’s school yesterday afternoon. After that we had been to our house and back to school this morning. Is there any way to make the phone report it’s location more frequently? Thanks!

Has he got it on airplane mode? Data off? It will be related to settings somewhere.

Perhaps he had it in airplane mode at school and forgot to turn wifi on again.

No. It was on and fully functional. No airplane mode or data off.
