hello dear macrumors users,

i just bought a used mbp. now i wonder and feel a little insecure because of that "find my mac" thing. can the preowner now track my used macbook if he registered it with his iCloud account? i am a little worried because he could easily break into my house and stuff like that since he knows where his old laptop is... :(

Did you re-install OS X? if you setup your iCloud service and enabled Find My Mac then it'll be connected to your user ID

here's a crazy idea...............why don't you ask the previous owner??;)

and what kind of person did you buy it from that you'd be scared that he might break into your house?

The nicest person on earth can be the most evil. I don't blame the OP but for sure I would have done a clean install, no question.
