I have used a theme called "Aqua extreme" ... it changed the color of the TITLE BAR of the FINDER ... but not the inside color ... where the FOLDERS and the SIDEBAR is.... ( Magnifique/ Shapeshifter - Dont work )

I know..... u can change the background color of Finder as ICONS mode.

Is it possible to change the background color from the default white ... in the LIST mode ?

If possible also change the color of the SIDEBAR on the left ?

If you can use a hex editor, maybe. It isn't a fun easy thing.

The only way is reverse engineering the system and monkeying around with some files.

Those are not image files like the rest of the system. The reason why magnifique and shapeshifter do not work on them is that they are close to impossible to tweak. Otherwise those apps would have offered the ability. I know what I am talking about as I used to hack and mod everything manually. Best thing right now for that is a hex editor and ThemePark/ Photoshop to expand the Sartfile and artfile.
Most of the files you want are located here:

    /System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/HIToolbox.framework/Versions/A/Resources/

    for Extras and Sartfile.

    and Here:

    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/CoreUI.framework/Versions/A/Resources

    For Artfile.

Let me clarify. It's very difficult and we don't actually know. They're not image files, they're actually part of the code of the Finder. You'd have to tweak the code in the Finder (which is what ShapeShifter used to do.)

    Thanks Go.

And are used throughout the system from the same source. It is a pain in the arse to even edit the highlight color in iTunes for same reasons even though that color is seperate. Look over what you CAN edit and you can still have fun. I know experienced themer's that don't bother. But I also know some who can do it. If you do not know how to re-compile the Finder you need to use a hex editor. There are clues at Macthemes on how to do this. Also try Devientart theme sections. No one holds your hand though and you will most likely nuke your OS a few times trying to get it right so be prepared or don't try. Be sure to repair permissions after every attempt:)

There are hilight colors defined by the system, but I'm pretty sure the ones for the Finder are hard coded in it. Not entirely sure, but that's what I remember.
