finder or trash log

I have lost some files without doing nothing... they simply disappeared...

Before I start doing a ouija and ask the home spirits where they may be I'd like to know if there's some kind of file log.

Maybe an applications deleted those...

Maybe you misplace them.

You tried clicking on the apple in the top left corner and click recent items?
You tried a spotlight search?
Maybe you put them on a external HD.

No, the files were there and now they are not.

I'm pretty sure I have lost them, but I'd like to know what happened.

My hypothesis is that uTorrent deleted the files, but without a log how can I be sure?
