My sister has a MacBookPro that she just upgraded to the latest OS of Yosemite 10. In trying to find the location of her picture files on her Hd; I noticed that she didn't have her sidebar in Finder activated. I set it to show and ticked of all the selections in the dialogue box for "Show these items in the sidebar". These selections still do not show. Wondering what I have to do to get them to show as they should?

First off, ensure that Favorites is enabled (hover the mouse over the word Favorites in the sidebar, if it says "Show" next to it then click on that to expand the list). Secondly if that doesn't work then try removing the checkmarks the items in Finder preferences and then check them again to see if they appear. Failing that you can try dragging and dropping the folders onto the sidebar from her home folder.
