Finder sidebar problem

I have somehow managed to drag a document onto the places section of the Finder sidebar. If I try to remove it, it just opens the application that normally opens the document. It is not the end of the world, but I do like to keep things tidy, so does anyone know how to remove something from this part of the sidebar?

Hold the Command key and drag it off.
