Finder window size and snapping query.

I've finally updated to Tahoe from Sonoma and I'm not liking one of the behaviour changes. When I opened finder in Sonoma the window would default to the size and position that it was last in, for example I tend to snap it to the left hand side of my screen and if I closed it and re-opened it the window would open snapped to the left side of the screen, however now every time I open finder it opens and small ish window in the mid line of my desktop.

I use bettersnap and have looked in all the preferences to see if there's a 'memory' setting but can't find anything. I've also tried turning bettersnap off and using the native window resizing and positioning but this shows the same behaviour. I've done a google search but not found a solution.

Is there a way to set the size and position of the window to a default setting please, either using bettersnap or the native system?

hit similar after my own Sonoma->Tahoe jump. Finder's per-folder geometry lives in the folder's .DS_Store, but the "default new Finder window" geometry is separate from that. what worked here: Finder > Settings > General, set "New Finder windows show:" to a specific folder (not Recents or AirDrop), open that folder once, snap it where you want with BST or the native green button drag, then close. Reopen — it sticks for me. BetterSnapTool only handles the resize gesture, it doesn't write the persistence Finder reads on next launch, so the BST/native test you ran was always going to behave the same. if it still drifts, nuke the .DS_Store in that folder (Terminal: rm /path/to/folder/.DS_Store) and re-set once.

Thanks very much for this. It was set to open in applications so I set it to documents and it opened in the last size and location as it used to. I've switched it back to applications and it still seems to be opening in the last size and location so it must have been some glitch that's reset.

Unfortunately it's reverted back to the behaviour of opening a small window in the middle of my screen, and the 'fix' no longer works. I'm always a bit cautious about using terminal so is there any other workaround please?
