I want to make certain folders open in list view and leave everything else in standard icon view. how can I do that? I know i can switch a folder to always open in list view, but that changes all folders...

There is not really a way to make finder windows open how you want them to globally, but ...

individual windows can be "set" by arranging them the way you want, and then clicking the button in view options for that window that says "always open this way" (or words to that effect).

Ummm... actually it works the opposite for me. When I select the view option, it sets it globally, and my question is how do i do it for individual windows, but not all. For example, I want to view my Music in list view, but I want application to open in icon view.
