Finding history

Which browser do you use?

Has the actual history no items from one year ago?
You can sort by date, but many browsers are set to delete items from the history after a shorter amount of time like a month or 90 days.
So if you haven't changed that, the chances of finding something are miniscule.

the history is usually deleted every so often. is there a way to retrieve it back using finder?

Do you use Time Machine?

Basically, if you have an external HDD connected which gets filled by the hour.
