I hope this is the right place to post. I did a search to see if this thread had been written before but I'm rubbish at analysing search results on forums..

I just bought a macbook and wanted to copy over all my firefox settings.
I found this site http://www.10voltmedia.com/blog/2008/07/migrating-firefox-from-pc-to-mac-with-mozbackup/ which explains how. I did most of the steps like using mozbackup and making it's exported files into a zip but when it came to replacing the folder they said on the mac I can't seem to find a firefox folder. Even the mozilla folder I found doesn't have anything in. I tried finding it by doing a search for the addons I have installed into firefox thinking I might locate it that way but no luck. Another webpage said I could find the location of the folder through fiefox itself but the way it told me also didn't seem to exist on my mac. How can I find my firefox folder?

I like my macbook but it does seem a bit like things are hidden from me.. I could always find my firefox folder etc quite easily on windows

thanks

Copy the following folder into the same place on your new computer, and all history, bookmarks, settings and addons will go across with it.

User > Library > Application Support > Firefox > Profiles.

Edit: Once you know your way around a Mac it's actually very easy to find everything you might be looking for. Most everything you could ever want in terms of settings will be inside the User > Library folder, and then within several easily named subfolders within those. Just give it time. :)

Oh thanks, I must have been looking in the wrong place before, now the folder is there :]
I hope it'll work. I am optimistic since iTunes did, even my date added stayed the same (important to me, my playlists are based on that) so I basically tricked itunes since I'd really only added them that day. :)
I hope Thunderbird also is easily transferable. Unless I should use iMail.. hmm. I guess I'll test iMail a bit.

My only problem now is I'm in the middle of a big firefox sess! I don't know if I'll ever manage to finish with and shut all of my tabs! (researching a lot of things like mobile phones and blenders and hats, lol) (Since I'll lose this session if I copy in my windows one), doh!

There's a little more to it than just copying the the folder. The first folder within Profiles has a name like d7lin8ze.default. If you merely copy the Profiles folder, it still won't work. There's another file below that that tells Firefox which profile to use. The firefox web pages can help you find which file you have to modify besides just copying the Profiles directory. Another option is to start Firefox once, then close it then write dwn the name of the folder below Profiles and then move in the one you saved and rename it to that. That's how I migrated firefox settings and bookmarks from my iMac to an MBP.

I've done the method I've described and never had a problem. It always copies across just fine for me. :)
