ApplePay will become more adopted especially as we move into the holiday season. I wouldn't be surprised to see the consortium of CurrentC fall apart once one of the members realizes they're losing sales and jumps ship

It's what I'm hoping for but I'm very doubtful. It doesn't make a huge difference if more banks are becoming compatable with apple pay if the retailers don't have the hardware.

It would require a financial investment on small retailers part to update their card readers to new NFC . Others that already have an existing NFC payment system that doesn't except apple pay are holding out for MCX.

They already have to upgrade them for the October 2015 EMV migration. Good thing the new readers generally already come with NFC.

yep,
I used mine twice already.,

At Walgreens, and a restaraunt last night, it if has NFC it will work. The restaraunt I still had to use my pin to complete the transaction though,. But that is because it's still a "budding" process.

My wife thought it was kewl when it sent a notification from my bank app to show the payment too. :)

Like you posted earlier isn't it for only chip card readers? Slightly less expensive than full out NFC readers Apple pay and Google wallet etc. need?

I see your point that the chances are greater since merchants have to update their POS systems in some way by a certain date. It still does not mean Apple pay will work.

I guess the basis for the original post was I assumed NFC payments were more available than I thought. Never cared until the update to 8.1 and have to say I'm slightly surprised how little choices there are.

NFC payment is not going to take over anything while we still have plastic cards.
A lot of plastic cards already support NFC (pretty much anywhere outside the US, where proximity payments are much more advanced).

Since the plus is my first Mobile payment experience I never really had the need to look for NFC symbols at card readers until recent. I'm finding I have to go out of my way to use :apple:pay.

Not a big deal but today I had some shopping to do and really wanted to count on using my phone all day. Only found 2 places Macy's and Pet Co that excepted a mobile payment. Obviously not CVS,also stopped by Best Buy to buy an iPhone mount no apple pay either. Went to pet smart first which is much closer but they do not have NFC. Went by Target no :apple: pay so I just paid cash there.

Tried to find some cheap work pants at old navy.. All the workers were using iPads in the store but no NFC upfront. Same for most of the stores in the Mall.

Not really a rant more of an observation not much love for NFC or Apple Pay.

Old Navy and Best Buy are heavy supporters of the new CurrentC vaporware that's due out "sometime next year". Read all about it in some other threads. It's bad. Target will only accept Apple Pay in its online store. PetSmart may get Apple Pay later.

I went to BP gas station today and they do accept Apple Pay! Now I need a grocery store that does. Whole Foods too far from where I live. Would be way too inconvenient for weekly errand.

ok how would you have worded it? It gets the point across no?

"Finding not many retailers utilizing Apple Pay" ?

Guess you're one of those guys that goes around correcting everything lol

How about "Finding not many retailers using Apple Pay but still lots of grammar police at least"?

It'll definitely get better. It does suck that the "220,000" locations at launch got cut by a significant amount because of the CurrentC mess though.

Seriously if you compare the amount of places accepting NFC mobile payments vs the amount of retailers that are part of the MCX group its HUGE!
