I have no idea how it happened, but my iPad Pro 2 has developed a long thin diagonal crack. It starts from the white bezel area and reaches almost the entire width of the iPad. I’ve had a bunch of Apple devices, and this is the first time something like this has happened.

Any advice? I don’t get AppleCare on my iPads because I’m careful and rarely take them out of the house. Is this something that Apple can fix with a new screen? Heck, if they can, is it worth fixing? And, anyone know if the crack is likely to get worse? (About 20 years ago I cracked the screen on my first laptop through carelessness, and it eventually spread and overtook the screen.)

I’m still more than happy with the Pro 2 and hoping not to replace it.

Look at replacement screens on Amazon or check with Best Buy on how much it’d be to replace it. I’d replace it free if I was near you, but I’m not.
You may need to spend a little for the replacement and labor. Depending on the price... I’d debate if getting an Air 3 or iPad 7 might even be cheaper or just not that much more to do.
Sorry I can’t be of any real help. I am on AppleCare with all my devices now days. But I fix iPhone, iMac, and iPad screens for people for free cause it’s a fun thing for me to do. If you’re ever in Utah, let me know. Ha ha. ✌

Man, What a nice gesture. Faith restored 😊

Would that be a good idea, mainly considering recent events?

I checked Apple’s site and screen replacement would be $600! The new Air might be a better option, but Iwonder if I could still use the Pro’s ASK

Yeah, I’m not about to run out and buy a new iPad while this one is still useable. But, when it isn’t, I’ll have to act fast because I can’t function without an iPad.

Apple doesnt replace iPad Pro screens. The $600 would be an iPad Pro replacement not just the screen.

So, they’d send a refurbished Pro 2 if I went that route?

Apple will send you the exact model that you are replacing. They will not let you make any changes like had size or color for example. It will be a refurbished version of your exact model.

Take a trip to the Genius Bar and act nicely. Usually hairline cracks with no visible point of impact are covered under warranty (for devices under warranty) - it doesn’t hurt to see if they will replace yours for free.

Not sure where you are located, but most electronic, Amazon, and of course Apple stores, have iPads in stock.

Just make sure you have your data backed up. Apps will auto reload on a new iPad. When mine iPad died (dropped) I got a new one and was back up and running in an hour or less.
