Awww man, I feel bad for you. IMO people should only get fired over the inability to hit the mission criticals of their position. Any other reason is just secondary and likely frivilous.

I've probably done a lot of inappropriate language at my office, but I haven't been fired yet. :p

Surely it depends, if you are interfacing with customers and use inappropriate language either directly to a customer or in an area where customers can clearly hear you then it i would not be surprised if you were fired.

Most large companies would keep an HR database and if you are fired it will be noted on the database. I would say his chance of being rehired would be pretty slim.

Bingo.

I actually worked retail (Borders) and we had to fire someone over language once. We could curse up a blue streak in the break room, but this guy said "I don't have time for this ****" to a customer in response to their request for help. In front of our regional manager, aka my boss's boss's boss.

Basically, about 10 seconds after that comment was made, I got yanked into an office and told to start documenting everything we could to fire that guy.

Iirc Apple specialist is a fancy name for the people on the sales floor, so yea, you could easily get fired for cursing at a customer.

Op, I would write a letter to the store that fired you. Explain that you made a huge mistake but that you understand the ramifications of your actions, and inquire if there's any chance of being rehired based on your overall job performance. But pretending you didn't get fired isn't going to help. There's always the slight chance someone takes pity on you and arranges something, but another Apple store is definitely going to find out, so best to try to expunge that first.

Wow apple is really weird

But other companies fire people who had been working for over 20 years, such as united airlines how they fired the two flight attendants worried about their safety. Every company has an excuse to fire someone

+1

It's even hard-coded into most corporate policies. For example, a recent IT policy forbids...

Downloading software not authorized or provided by the Company, including, but not limited to games, music, videos.
...
Violations of any aspect of the Policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Technically, I can download and install Firefox on my workstation and they can fire me for any other reason.

What was the inappropriate language?

It is unlikely that any company will rehire an employee they've terminated.

The OP hasn't returned to the thread, so I doubt we'll hear anymore info.

Given the consensus is that he has a snowball's chance in hell getting hired, its not totally surprising that he's moved on from this thread.
