Not all of us are running Big Sur or newer.

Don't feed them, they will multiply....Yeah, I am sure that updated icon would make Firefox so much faster..
Firefox 100 is a testimonial of a web browser that has been constantly improved against security and advanced HTML over the years. It’s my alternative for Safari for testing web page compatibility.Firefox today announced the launch of Firefox 100, the newest version of the popular browser that serves as an alternative to Safari and Chrome. Firefox 100 brings new features for both mobile devices and the desktop to enhance the browsing experience.
There are tons of icons made by third parties you can paste onto Firefox if you want it to match Big Sur and later. I found this one on DeviantArt and the icon persists even as the app updates itself.Asking the important question here:
Did they finally update the dock icon to the "new" (uhh.. almost, since Big Sur, that's released 1,5 year ago) style?
Edge has a screen shoot tool, but its limited to browser content and it's mark up features are only inking so I never use it. Xnip Pro in the mac app store is a great free tool that has a lot of features (scrolling capture, text overlays, call outs, shapes, highlights, etc.) that I use for everything.Firefox has the best (and only?) baked-in screenshot tool for websites. I use it constantly for work stuff, especially if I need to send out full page captures for review.
Edge also does pretty good screenshots (including capturing the full page).Firefox has the best (and only?) baked-in screenshot tool for websites. I use it constantly for work stuff, especially if I need to send out full page captures for review.
I fixed that for you. FF never had this problem.Did they finally solve the "Chrome sucks all resources up" feature that it always tends to have?
You know what - introducing these new icons and the iOS like icon style was one of the dumbest design changes. Even after month I still struggle with the new launcher and key chain icons. Unintuitive and terrible. No they've specifically stated (I think I saw on the subreddit or one of the developer bug things on their site) that they think having the icon stick out like a sore thumb is apart of their "brand identity". They are really convinced it matters that the icon stays the classic shape for some reason even though its still completely recognizable if its just inside a rounded square. I think its the dumbest excuse ever to act like the shape of the icon is what is keeping the browser relevant in any way lol.

I have a problem with the truncated pop-up menus à la Windows which are still there in the 100 release. From the language selector on https://www.wikipedia.org:wonderful! Firefox should have been the #1 browser in this world. I love Firefox. They are always welcoming new features.
Mozilla should fire their CEO that spending the money in the wrong places like paying herself extra and find an alternative funding other than Google. They claim they fight for the internet freedom and privacy yet they ship Google as default search.
The CEO is taking it to the ground.
Yes I'm aware I can use any old icon I find online to replace it. The problem is any I've found quickly are not as sharp or accurate as they could or should be if Mozillas designers did it right. I'm too lazy to go digging for an actual copy of say one of their iOS icon apps, but that's probably the actual best option since they won't do it themselves. The real problem is less about the icon but pointing out that they don't get the things that superficial, average users want or think about when it comes to computers etc. One thought that comes to mind that isn't about the aesthetics directly is certain users might think or wonder if the app is old or out of date when using a mac because they are used to the iOS style icons. I love Firefox and I'm a genuine fan of the browser, I've been using it regularly since 2008, but its obvious its lost a lot of users due to Chromes popularity etc. If they want to remain any sort of contender at all in the broader market of web browsers they need to work on every little thing that gets average people to want to use it again. I guess if Mozilla has some kind of plan to keep Firefox around indefinitely without competing on the same stage as the other main browsers then thats fine with me, but that seems unlikely in my opinion. They also need to tweak the aesthetic of Firefox on the Mac just ever so slightly to make it match the UI more IMO. Make it look more like Safari or other apps that blend in more, get rid of the two tone coloration up top (not permanetly, just have the default system skin match more) and let the window appear to be all one piece up there. I'm also entirely aware I could do this myself through an addon or other tweak but I'm talking from the perspective of the average user who opens Firefox on the Mac and goes back to Safari because they think it looks nicer. Those are the people who are not going to or don't even know they could customize the app that much to their liking.you can change it in like 3 clicks.
They are just waiting for the next update of Apple HIG, so that they will be aligned again ...Yeah they even closed the bug item on their platform about it, because they were tired of people asking. Meanwhile it's the only app in my dock that isn't updated according to Apple's Human Interface Guidelines. I love Firefox and the world needs a browser like that, but not updating or giving some dumb excuse is just plain lazy.
How do you suggest they fund development? They are a non-profit going up against industry juggernauts with billions of dollars to back their development. Mozilla is the only browser that doesn't have a commercial profit incentive driving it. The Google deal is the only thing paying the bills right now and a quick toggle changes the search engine to anything you want. Nothing is forced or even made difficult. If we're being honest here Google is the search engine most of us are likely to use anyway. I would love to use DuckDuckGo more often but it just can't match google in terms of accuracy. Without Google Firefox will die and without Firefox anything that is not Chromium based will struggle even more and that mean Safari. If you value privacy and an open internet then you should be rooting for Firefox to succeed even if you don't personally use it.
They could have released paid services like VPNs (PIA was sold for $100M) or privacy email which is ProtonMail is doing very fine with and growing, thats better than using that money in campaigns to force the political views of their CEO and attempt cancel culture.
Sorry but this is just not true. In the future, why not link the bug you are referring to? I did the digging for you and here is the open bug: "Square icon for macOS Big Sur" https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1648386...they even closed the bug item on their platform about it, because they were tired of people asking...
