What plugins do you have in use with it?

Also, restart your computer, reopen firefox and check again.

Maybe it was some Flash fracking around. This can be sometimes highly CPU intensive, depending what CPU you have.

    use flashblock to help performance

Try using the extension flashblock to stop the flash applications from eating your system up.

You should open one tab at a time and monitor CPU usage. You should be able to narrow down the site.

    It's Flash, it's always Flash.

Give it a try and see what the CPU usage is.
