Yeah, I stand corrected - just checked it myself with Safari.Track pad gestures.
So glad Konigi finds it amusing, not.WTF!?
I just quit Firefox 83 as normal and when I relaunched it ALL my browsing history has disappeared, gone!
Years worth of it! 😶
I have never experienced a problem like this and I've been using Mozilla since Netscape version 1 🤦🏼
What to do?
I am sorry if my reaction troubled you. It is painful to lose browsing history, you're right. I did not intend to offend you!So glad Konigi finds it amusing, not.
Apology accepted 😇I am sorry if my reaction troubled you. It is painful to lose browsing history, you're right. I did not intend to offend you!
I laughed at the part "years worth of it", that I understood as being some sort of a challenge, or a collection. I may have misinterpreted it.
I am afraid I do not know what to do, except if you have a backup on Time Machine and then export the history and stuff?
Apology accepted 😇
It was pretty traumatic I have to admit, and it's cost me all this time since posting about it to get some kind of working configuration going.
I do have Time Machine making automatic backups every hour so I switched that off to not get too many copies of what I don't want, but it proved to be almost impossible to restore history and such because the Profile folder and its contents are locked.
Long story short I trashed the app and all its files and installed afresh then imported everything from Safari. The problem is I usually run Safari in Private mode so there's not much history. I only open pages I might want to bookmark in a New Window later so they do stay in safari's history, and Firefox didn't import my logins and passwords.
Luckily I also have backups of all my logins and passwords, but it is a huge pain and I have no idea what the f**k happened.
Thanks for your apology. I'm interested to see if anybody else has a similar bad experience with Firefox 83 or is it just me.
Yea eats too much RAM. Its not like I have a choice. Company defaults Chrome browser. I also use Safari tho...on my phone and on my mac.In my experience, Chrome is crap. I never used it much on Mac (Safari is generally better), and on Windows I use Firefox.
Chrome wastes a lot of time sending god knows what to Google's servers. Besides the security implications, it just slows the entire browser down as it won't display a page until it hits fonts.google.com or whatever other stupid Google service it wants to hit for no reason.
