Resolved Firefox and Safari crashing system

If I open Firefox, it just closes. If I open Safari it shuts the whole system down and says error needs to restart. Never had an issue until I updated to Yosemite.

Scratch that. My late 2009 iMac is finished. It goes to apple a logo and bar for 30 sec, then shuts down. I ran the fsck thingy, and it said, hard drive can't be repaired. Wow!
