I'm asking for an iPod Touch for my birthday in April.

First off, does anyone expect a major upgrade around April that I should wait for?

Second, is there a Firefox app for iPod Touch?

No, Firefox is not good for iPod or iPhones or Computers

Hi,
I tested some browsers.
Safari
Opera
Google Chrome
Firefox
Internet Explorer

It came up that safari is the way fastest in loading all web pages. Since the only problem is that you cant download toolbars to it. But with the new safari on mac there is no toolbar needed since mac users use Dashboard as a toolbar.
Also, Firefox does not have and iPod app. If it will be Firefox app it would be just as good as safari, because you can not load toolbars and etc. into iPod or iPhone.

So stay at safari for sure. The ***** that Firefox is the most secure and fast browser is not true. Also dont load any antivirus programs into your iPod touch, cause you will pay a lot of Ca$h for it and it is useless.

The rendering engine which powers Firefox (Gecko) is currently not well suited for small, mobile devices with specialist performance and power constraints.

So at this moment in time the Mozilla organisation are unable provide a version of Firefox for mobile devices. Their technology just isn't well suited yet. It is only in a pre alpha stage on Mobile Phones.

Whilst you may like and prefer Firefox over all other browsers for the Desktop (and there are very good reasons for this) it would be a miserable experience on your iPod touch.

Texas, unfortunately.

Who the hell is dumb enough to do that?

Anyway, I too wish there was a FF app. Safari crashes on me way too much. But alas, Mozilla won't do it and Apple won't allow it.

So you tested all of those browsers on an iPod Touch? The whole thread is about the iPod Touch.

And all "mac users use Dashboard as a toolbar"? I doubt it.

Firefox is a perfectly good browser on a Mac and so is Opera.

And I can't believe there even are any antivirus programs for an iPod Touch.

There aren't anti virus for iPod's because there aren't any viruses...
Getting back to iPod Touch, FF is not available.
About the April release we really do not know. I'd say wait for atleast next week and see what the event has in it's agenda. I doubt, but maybe they will introduce a new iPod?

not likely unfortunately. first off it'll need to be officially licensed by Mozilla and agreed by Apple if it's to be a proper FF browser, secondly, Apple wont want to pimp any other browsers other than their own really, unless there's a means to an end.

when i first came to the ipod touch i was disappointed about no FF browser, but now, after a couple of years usage with safari, i'm more than happy to stay with it :)
