Is there a way to make the Google search in Firefox (the one on the top right) not retain the searched phrase when switching tabs? When using Safari, if I type a phrase in the Google Search bar and then go to a new tab, the Google search is blank in the new tab. However, in Firefox, the same phrase remains in the toolbar. Anyone know how to make Firefox behave like Safari in this instance? Thanks.

Also, does anybody know how to make the reverse happen? IOW, how do you make Safari retain the search phrase when switching tabs the way that FireFox does? The fact that Safari does not retain the search phrase is extremely irritating to me.

Does it really matter? Next time you focus the searchbar everything is highlighted so it just deletes it as you type.
If you really want something, install the addon

searchbar autosizer
and go to the advance settings and tick the option that says 'clear on submit'

:)
