Today I downloaded Firefox 3.6.15.dmg (for backup purposes),
I opened the file (to make sure it was properly downloaded): I got verifying image, then I got to the window that offers me to drag and drop firefox into the applications folder (obviously I didn't since Firefox is already installed),
So I just closed the window and ejected the disc image file, everything should still be the same, right? No changes made to the firefox app at all?

simple question, thx

Yes, the App will still be the same. Unless you manually chose to overwrite your current copy, it will still be the same. Regardless, it would not matter if you did override it, as all settings, preferences and history would remain the same as they are stored elsewhere.
