I've noticed that firefox is really slow lately.. not just slow loading web pages.. but also lagging when i click on the file, edit menus.. or even when i try to type in a web address. I have the latest version and disabled the ad ons and it still works slow. Safari and all my other apps seem to be running fine.. Is this a common issue with firefox? I'm fine with switching back to safari but Firefox always worked good for me.. especially when i wanted to download youtube vids..

Sounds like you tried restarting Firefox in safe mode. Did you try the other suggestions on the bottom of this page?

I haven't had any such issues with Firefox. On my MBP it definitely runs better than Safari. This might be a silly question, but have you tried restarting your computer?
You could also try repairing permissions, and if that doesn't work try creating a new Firefox profile to see if it is something particular to your current profile.
