Firefox update bug

I love Firefox on Mac until it's time to update. I get a pop-up box letting me know an update is available, I click restart, I am prompted for my password, and nothing happens. I try to launch Firefox again with the password prompt. Nothing. I tried to find a solution, and someone suggested going to library/cache/mozilla, and deleting the updates folder. It didn't help. Is anyone else having problems with Firefox updating on Mac?
 
I can't speak for the update issue itself, but maybe it'll be easiest to download the latest version from the website and install it manually. Hopefully it won't fail to update again next time.

If you install Firefox while your Mac account is in "Admin"-Mode and later downgrade the Mac account to "Standard", it will ask for an Admin password for every Firefox update.

If you install and run Firefox for the 1st time while your Mac account is already set to "Standard", an admin password might be needed for the 1st-time installation (I don't remember), but it is definitely not needed for any following update.

I discovered this by pure accident last year.

That’s what I’ve been doing. The only reason I open Safari is to download Firefox.
