I was on another site today and they had a similar discussion going, but it seemed the talk was all about Rockmelt. Never have tried that browser.

I prefer Safari ... never had a problem, so no reason to switch to Firefox

and Chrome ... I avoid Google like the plague it is.

Chrome kept crashing on me (I'll need to wait till it's out of beta),

Chrome has been out of beta for quite a while. The release version is up to 8.x as of recently. The crashing on startup bug seemed to be only for one build in the 7.5 branch as I didn't have the issue before the last update. I hope this 8.x update fixes it.

It's just a build of Chrome with tons of Social network crap thrown in.

I use Safari probably 95% of the time on OSX. I don't care for firefox, and Chrome is growing on me. I use Chrome on windows as the default whenever I boot into it though.

Hum, you do understand that a Kernel panic results in having to reboot your computer right ? I don't think Chrome is quite causing Kernel panics in your case.
Now that you mention it, I believe I did have to reboot OS X in addition to taking the steps I described in my earlier post. As noted earlier, kernel panics happened only a couple of times so it is likely I had forgotten that I had to reboot the computer, too. Both of the earlier kernel panics occurred on my MBP. The problem hasn't arisen on the MBA over the course of the six weeks I have been using it. The bottom line remains, though that Kernel panics have occurred so seldom, they haven't reduced my enthusiasm for Chrome. Anyway, don't you like Chrome. too. Your posts to this thread certainly left me with that impression.

I've been a Firefox user on both my Macs and PC's. But ever since Chrome started supporting extensions, I've been using it ever since. It's much faster from my experience. To be honest, I've never been a fan of Safari..

Firefox is only better if you want to use the add-on, which can be very usefull, but if it for simple web-browsing it doesn't really matter.

Thanks for the heads up. For some reason the About Google Chrome window in version 7.X that I was running failed to prompt me that an update was available. After I went to the Google site and downloaded 8.X, the update available prompt came up and I was able to do the update without incident. I suspect the reason the update available prompt didn't come up was that I had not closed Chrome for more than a week before I did so this morning. Thanks again.

I like Safari on Mac. Been using it since Firefox didn't look like a Mac application. I have tried to go back to Firefox, but I am just used to Safari. On Windows, it is Firefox all the way.

Safari: lower CPU usage (Even when "idle")

Firefox: way better usability for me. and Linux cross-platform support.
I normally use firefox
