helo folks,

i updated my firefox2.0 recently with the latest update (2.0.0.5, i believe). the browser refuses to start up thereafter. whenever i click on the icon in the dock, it animates (i.e. bounces up and down, like the app icons do) but thereafter does not start up.

what would be the fix?

i even tried downloading a new dmg of firefox. that too shows the same problem.

where would I find the 'preference' file? thanks a bunch!

is anyone else facing similar problems?

click on your HD and then Library - preference is in there.
I just updated to the 2.0.0.5 and I haven't had any problems. Did you restart your computer?
Try repairing permissions too.

Preference files on a Mac can be stored in a few locations and the most usual is ~/Library/Preferences, where ~ represents your home directory (the full path to mine, for example, would be Macintosh HD > Users > kelmon > Library > Preferences). In the case of Firefox, however, it places its preferences in ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox. Using the Finder, navigate to the Application Support folder and Trash the Firefox folder.

If you wish to preserve your bookmarks, find the file within the Firefox folder called "bookmarks.html". You'll find this within a Profiles folder with a random name within the Firefox folder. Take a copy of this, Trash the Firefox folder and restart Firefox. Once Firefox is running again, shut it down, put the bookmarks file into the new Profile folder that has been created and restart the browser.

Hope that's all clear as mud...
