That Camera Guy

This is probably a stupid question, but...

I recently got a few external hard drives for video editing that have Firewire 800 ports on the back. I have a G5 that has Firewire 800 capability so I thought there would be no problem.

The trouble I'm having in that it seems like the Firewire port on the back of my Mac is male and would require a female cable to be plugged into it. The cables that came with my hard drive are male on both ends. I've searched all over fore a Firewire 800 cable that is female on one end or looks like it would plug into the back of my Mac but I can only find male cables.

Any ideas?

I figured it out!

It looked like it was a male connector on the back of my Mac because apparently the inside of a Firewire cable broke off inside it. Since I haven't had anything that was Firewire 800 before it must have shipped from the factory this way.

I took a pair of needlenose plyers and pulled out the little black piece of plastic and it is working.
