Hey gang,
I'm pretty sure the answer to my situation is going to be "tough luck, it will never work", but here goes.
I have a camcorder which uses firewire to connect to a computer. Unfortunately, I purchased the 4-pin to 4-pin cable instead of 4-pin to 6-pin, so it won't fit my iMac. However, it will fit my Windows laptop, so I was wondering if there was some way for me to do digital video capture over the network, basically sharing the firewire device.
I can't find any way to capture video on the laptop, since I'm using Windows Server 2003 (I write server software for a living, so I use a server OS on my work laptop).
I've ordered the correct cable off of eBay, but if I can do something in the meantime, that would be excellent. Everything I search for on Google returns information about IP over Firewire, but I'm looking for something more like Firewire over IP.
