Couple questions... I'd like to get a firewire drive enclosure that will hold at least a 5.25" IDE device and a 3.5" device (a DVD drive and a harddrive). Any recommendations?

Also, what external DVD-R/W drives are supported by iDVD? Either without any hacks, or with only software hacks to iDVD (not firmware to the drive, preferably).

Lastly, how is the performance of firewire 400 for external hard drives? I'd only use it for data storage, but is it fast enough for, say, editing video from?

Thanks,
Rob

i am very pleased with my macally. definitely go with at least FW400, if possible FW800 is a lot faster. USB 2.0 doesn't have variable bitrate from what I have been told.

in terms of performance, i can watch video of my external while moving files on and off it.

FW400 will sadly be it for me, unless Apple adds 800 ports to the imac in the next month.

Are you using FW400?

Thanks,
Rob

Yes. I am very pleased with its performance, there is a noticable difference in speed to USB 2.0.

So does anyone know what external DVD drives will work with iDVD, if any? Or is it all?

Thanks Steven,

Rob
