My reason for posting was to see if anyone had heard of a firewire drive, something like a usb flash drive. I know there are usb/firewire hard drives, but I'm looking for a firewire connected flash drive. I guess nothing exist or at least I have not been able to find one.

Pre-Intel, you couldn't boot a Mac with a USB drive, thus the firewire requirement.

Wrong, I boot my G3 with USB all the time. In fact I've booted many PPC machines to Mac OS X with a USB drive, often right from OpenFirmware.

You booted OS9 or 10.0/10.1 off usb? I would like to know how. We still have these (biege and green G3) in use and booting feom USB would be a lot easier than carrying a around firewire drives. We've been able to get 10.3-5 on blue/silver off usb, but not lesser ver.

I, too, would like to know how you did this. Would be a very cool diagnostic tool.
