I got this working finally... I was doing something wrong in the IP naming because I tried exactly what was in this thread and it didnt work with the IPs I was using...

IF YOU NEED TO XFER HUGE AMOUNTS OF DATA FROM PC TO MAC, FIREWIRE 800 IS YOUR BEST FRIEND... or a gigabit crossover cable...
 
Ever since Panther, I've never had any problems with Networking over FireWire (aka IP over FireWire). I use it all the time to transfer large files. All I do is enable it, and then plug connect 2 Macs with FireWire and shut off things like ethernet and airport.
