Hi

I use an external Lacie drive (Bigger Disk Extreme 2TB) to store all my music (iTunes etc), my video library, photos etc. For the past 3 months I have had numerous problems with the drive connected via FW800. I must have rebuilt the drive directory more than 15 times with Diskwarrior and it would still come up with all sorts of errors, performance issues, I/O issues. The same applies when I connect through FW400.

When I connect the drive via USB2.0 the problems disappear. In fact, today my iTunes Library was unreadable and reported as corrupted, but when I switched to USB 2.0 connection everything was fine. I've also tried the FW800 connection to another Macbook Pro running Tiger and everything was fine too.

This seems to be a Leopard issue. Anyone else experiencing similar problems?

FireWire does crazy things on mine also. Anytime I plug my iSight into FireWire 400, my Time Machine backup drive (FireWire 800) goes crazy and gets all messed up. Then I unplug my iSight and get yelled at for unplugging the Time Machine backup...which is still plugged in. Then I have to restart a few times to get my sound back, and Spotlight indexes my Time Machine drive again for a few hours. I really don't know what the issue is, it's really aggravating.
