Firewire standard PCI bus?

Do Macs have a standard PCI bus for firewire. I need a new firewire card and have a spare one from my old PC basically. Would that work? Is there any reason that doing this wouldn't work?

I'd try it out first. It should work. I've seen all kinds of USB 2.0 and FireWire cards that work in OS X.
