I've read the info.apple.com files on Firewire Target mode and understand how to intitiate it to transfer files from my old G4 to my new iMac 24" 2.8Mhz (when it arrives in a week or so). Although I've been using OS X for several now years and a cursory understanding of UNIX I haven't invested much time in understanding its differences vs the old OS which I was quite familar with dealing with, quirks and all, because I no longer handle Apple support issues at work and have better things to do at home.

My G4 has three disks in it:
1) The orginal which now contains only OS9 stuff
2) A second which contains three partitions, one of which has OS X 10.3.9 and std. apps in it, one with other applications, and a third with data
3) A third with data

Questions:
1) When I connect the G4 in target mode will all three disks appear on the iMac Host?

2) Can I just copy application files over to the new machine or should I reinstall / update from scratch? Is there any utility which finds / copies all of the supporting files?

Thanks
Chuck Gardner
