Once this nice firmware update comes out in June, what are the chances it will stop jailbreaking and SIM unlocking? Does this mean everyone on T-Mobile will have to stick to older versions?

I can promise you that Apple won't allow unlocking software to go on the appstore. I suppose jailbreaking will continue if 2.0 doesn't completely lock everyone out. I don't see much use for it though. Most of the apps are useless and the SDK will bring me what I want--AIM, games, etc.. PUSH email will finally come with this update. all we need is an MMS app which i'm sure will come.

I'll wait and see what v2.0 has to offer and what headaches it produces.

If I were a developer making something somewhat useful, I might release it for free (or "donationware") via, but I wouldn't release it for free if I had to use the App Store (and thus had to pay $99).

I think the break/unlock programmers have the iPhone mostly figured out. Unless Apple comes up with some way of circumventing them (e.g., bootloader) then I think we'll continue to see jailbreaks and unlocks.

i agree, anysim will be bsuted as it is with every new modem firmware, however, hopefully ipsf unlock style will still work, as it has withstood all updates so far. ranon 112 and when i ran 113 update through itunes it stayed unlocked as usual. same wiht my bosses 102 phone updated to 111 unlocked, 112 adn 113.

here's hoping we can still jailbreak and unlock in 2.0!
