Was updating my firmware and an error occurred. Upon booting, the firmware update tries to complete, but fails and powers down at the progress bar screen.
I'm on a 15" MBP (2011 model) and the firmware I was trying to update to was 10.6.'the one just before Lion'. I have looked into burning a Firmware Restoration CD, but can't find one that is compatible with my MBP - model identifier: MacBookPro8,2.

Not sure if this is relevant but, I a have Windows 7 x64 bootcamp partition installed.

Anyway, if anyone knows how I can get a working computer again, I be very grateful to hear from you. Not even sure if I'll be able to target-disk my important files off if I can't get my firmware restored. Hmmmm.

Thanks a lot!

Do you have an Apple store nearby? They could probably fix it easily, or at least try to help.

Ye, will do, as a last resort.

Tried target disk mode - only bootcamp partition mounts which isn't much use. Wonder if I can transfer my mac stuff from windows over local network or something.

Anyone got any firmware-restoration-based ideas?
