If apple had a previous issue months ago that required a firmware update from their site, would my new MacBook Pro need it? Or would they already have it installed?

I just bought this 2 days ago, and I ran the software update thingy. I also tried to manually download the firmware from the support site, but it wouldn't download.

I'm guessing I don't need it?

If you got it new, 99% likely that you don't need it.

It would show up in Software Update if you did.

All you have to do it compare the current firmware number on your Mac with those of the listed firmware update on the website (it tells you what number your firmware will be updated to). You can find your own firmware numbers via the System Profiler.

I wondered the same thing a month ago... if your computer doesn't need it, it will tell you so if you try to use the firmware updater, and will halt the process.
