i was just wondering if anybody knows if there are any firmware updates for the superdrive. I am especially wondering if there are any that can support dual layer burning. Thank for the help
 
There are firmware updates, but you have to use a PC or a USB enclosure with VPC to update the drive. OWC just published this yesterday. Someone made a Mac Firmware utility. More info here:

I don't know how to read french so I stumbled thru the site until I found the right page. There are firmware flashers for all Pioneer Superdrive models and luckily the OS X installers are in english :) once you have d/l'd the archive, just click on the Pioneer_YourModelName.command to set it in motion.

The dvr-104 flasher came with 2 new firmware options and the original Apple version to revert to if something goes awry.

Happy to say it worked for me :)
