Hey you guys..... Need to update Firmware on a Pioneer BDR-209D Optical Drive on a MAC Pro to v 1.5.1.

I am noticing that all firmware updates via Pioneer are PC .exe files. How do I do this on my MAC OS High Sierra?

NOTE: I tried doing it with DVRFlash v 275...... But it didn't recognize the 2 optical drives.

Thank you!

Use windows. The old mac dvrflash only works with older dvd drives, not bluray

I have run into this situation in the past, I just used a friends PC to flash my peripherals however I'm now thinking of just buying a cheap second hand pc to keep in the garage should future situations like this occur.

Can't Bootcamp and Windows be used for this? Windows is free to download although I'm not sure what limitations there are when it's unactivated

Windows 10 works un-activated in a trial mode for 30 days, but since UEFI Windows installs are problematic with MP5,1 and can cause BootROM problems, CSM Windows is a hassle to install after Windows ISO images become to big for single-layer DVDs, I'd use a PC to upgrade the drive unless I already have a CSM install ready.

Won’t work, SATA DVDs need SATA native ports for firmware upgrades.

You can always install Windows 7 on your Mac Pro and upgrade it. Don’t use Windows 8.1 or 10 unless you know how to install via CSM mode.

Oh Boy......what a hassle! WHY does Pioneer make all of this such a problem to do for us MAC people?

Thanks for all your info.
