Had mine for about 2 weeks now and I like it alot. I was coming from the 7 Plus. FaceID and all the swipe gestures did take a few days to get used to at first but now it feels natural. FaceID works very well for me, I would say 95% of the time, usually I dont even realize its working. Screen is great but honestly I dont see much difference between my 7 plus screen and this one. My favorite thing is the size, I still get a big screen in a more compact size. I loved my 7+ but the size did bother me sometimes. You'll get used to it give it some time. If by the 12th or 13th day you still dont like it then return it but at least give it the full 2 weeks.

I don't know if I have Super-FaceID but even if my front facing camera only sees this:

FaceID will still work!:)

Everybody’s situation and needs are different.. My response was far from a blanket statement, it says in my situation, touchid doesn’t work well so faceid is a welcome improvement..
I think both technologies can be hit and miss for certain people. I’m lucky touchID has been very reliable on my iPhone 6 and now the 6S I use now. With that in mind there is no real incentive to tempt me to pay over a grand to try faceID. It’ll be one of those features that will filter through the range and be available on the less niche iPhones at some point and i’ll try it then.

swiping up and it's just natural and you shouldn't have the phone too close to your face anyway otherwise it can give you issues unlocking. attention off solves alot of the issues if you have any

Yeah but your broken iPhone is hardly a fair representation of the reliability of touchID. Failing at a rate of 90% is well beyond the realms of defective and having filthy hands constantly is also not a failing of the technology.
Sorry to disappoint you but I never had a broken iPhone. By your argument I can say that Face ID works 100% of the times with me which does, and if it doesn't to you then your iPhone might be broken, when it's not since many factors can interfere in the unlock method.

You guys crack me up. Before the X was announced everyone loved their iPhones. Never heard a peep about how it looked outdated. Samsung and others were already doing OLED and minimal bezels. Not until the X was released did everyone start dissing the other iPhone models.

To me the X reminds me of the original iPhone with rounded edges and chrome bezel. Not my cup of tea.

Brick? The 8 and 8 plus are thinner than the X. So it's a bezel that makes a phone a brick?
We "loved" the old iPhones before the new because that's what we had at the time, we didn't have a X to compare side by side, when it comes to Samsung my opinion was always that the iPhone looked outdated compared to Samsung Galaxy phones.
The bezels do make it look outdated and clunky next to the X.

You haven’t disappointed me, but your claim touchID used to fail 90% of the time is either the consequence of two factors. You were either exaggerating or your iPhone was defective. If any button is within 10% of not working at all, it’s broken or not fit for purpose.

It did fail to me 90% of the times, when I updated to iOS 11 it failed 70%. I can't count the times I had to put the passcode because of a failed Touch ID authentication.

Then your iPhone was not working as intended. We all experience fail rates but as high as 70-90%? That’s abnormally high and not fit for purpose. You should have taken the phone to Apple and not made the assumption it was normal behaviour.

I didn't say it was "normal behaviour" I simply said how my experience was lol.
"That's good news since mine failed almost 90% of the time, not to talk about having to wash my hands and clean the home button before unlocking otherwise wouldn't work."

Abnormal but not broken in your opinion? Well, at least your don’t have to use the ancient fingerprint method anymore then. Those of us with ‘less cool’ iPhones don’t know what we’re are missing.

I just stated that Touch ID was a bad experience for me, actually since the iPhone 6 and that Face ID works wonders, never stated that it was "less cool" or anything. I simply stated my experience with Touch ID which wasn't as pleasent as with Face ID. You seem to get triggered by my bad experience and need to justify it since it's an individual experience and not the majority.

Disclaimer: All my posts honest. I am not one of these people who defends Apple like their life depended on it.

FaceID works around 70% of the time in normal conditions. Less than 20% of the time when I wake up in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning.

TouchID on my 6S and 8 Plus works over 95% of the time in normal conditions. Less than 10% of the time if my hands are wet.

In conclusion, TouchID is more accurate.

But then you have less security, and in a phone that can acces everything nearly in your life! That’s not something you want.
I don’t know, it seems that Face ID can get in the way of the experience, technology shouldn’t do that.

Fair enough Face ID is Apple first gen technology, but considering it’s replaced a well established security system that’s proven and the extremely high cost of the X, it really should be a flawless experience bar none!

No, I wasn’t ‘triggered’ by your bad experience, just pointing out it wasn’t representative of a fully working iPhone for added context.

I made the reference to being ‘less cool’ as you’ve made it clear all other iPhones apart from the X will have owners looking at in horror due to them looking dated in your opinion.

As I said I never had hardware defects with all of my iPhones, could have been iOS 10 which made Touch iD so awful and also was worse in the summer.
That comment I meant about "horror" is in the future because let's be honest, Apple is going to abandon soon the design of the iPhone 8 and go with the "Notch" style. When a product is new it will instantly make the last product look old and outdated.

Face ID? Fast flawless reliable no issue and works while phone is on an upright wireless charger.

Just get rid if need to swipe up and I'll be happy.

Sure it's less security but those who are trying to get into your phone your face still needs to be near the device so if somebody stole it and ran they wouldn't be able to get access to it your information.

I think the form factor for the iPhone X is underrated, it is much more comfortable to hold and manipulate one handed over the iPhone Plus models. But I still would prefer maybe a larger display, which I will have to see what the rumored 6.5 iPhone X looks like in fall 2018.

So....72 Hours in....and

It's growing on me....

Face ID is still not as good a Touch ID for unlocking the phone but for logins/passwords and Apple Pay it is far better....scary almost how it authenticates without having to press anything, i'm figuring out a "movement" for getting it out of my pocket and unlocking seamlessly to replace the blind unlock using Touch ID

Picked up my iPhone 8 after not touching it for a whole day and WOW....the screen seems TINY!!!

Still lots of unoptimised Apps that annoy me but hopefully these will get fixed soon (although its been almost 6 months now so don't hold much hope for some)

As an iPhone 8 user, the 4.7@ model? Can you help with my questions I had in another thread regarding the two phones?......

Hi, as someone who has gone from the X to the 8, in terms of one handed use how different are they? Is the 8 easier to use because it doesn’t have the screen stretching down to the bottom, do you find yourself having to move vet the X around in your hand more then the 8 to use it one handed? Also how different have you found the cameras?

Fixed that for ya. Maybe its more accurate for you, but its not for me. I work in swimming pool construction. Either my hands are dirty, wet, or I have gloves on. Not to mention the home button gets really dirty during the day. I cant use TouchID on a daily basis. FaceID is more accurate, for me :)
