Hey guys

I need help choosing a camera, im currently using my dad's sony nex 3 and im about to go off to college. Im looking for a camera that can give image quality like the nex3 but more portable?

I've been quite interested in photography for a while and i dont mind spending a bit for a good first camera. But im really not sure as to what camera I should get. Does anyone here have any suggestions?

Thanks!

go with either a Nikon D7000 or Canon 7D.

idk what is a bit, but these two will be great. It will cost you a bit of change, but it's worth every bit.

:)

Agree with first reply if you want a DSLR.
But you said you wanted portable, so I would suggest checking out the Canon G12 or the S95 (or newly released S100). That will give you lots of manual options, you can shoot in RAW and they are pretty small. I had a G11 (almost identical to the G12) it was to big for a jeans pocket but fine if I had a jacket. The S95 /100 is really small and actually has a faster lens.

Check out some flickr groups for cameras you are considering to get an idea of what they are capable of.

Thanks for the input guys, i not too keen on the 5d or d7000, it just seems too big to bring to college. The s95 and the g12 sounds great. What do you guys think about the fuji x10
