It says a lot that I have a series 5 and I see no incentive to upgrade.
I have a Steel 3 and got my sis an 8 when they first launched for like $330 through Best Buy CC discount deal. She gave me her 5 since I wont upgrade until I see something worthy. The 5 works fast. Much faster than the 3 and I only use it for sleep tracking and working out. Dont feel like upgrading even at the $250 BB clearance on the 7. These prices are kinda crazy for a calorie tracker or distraction tool. If Apple gives me a light 1.5 day battery watch, I'll get it but it needs to last 1.5 days with my 1500 cal a day workouts and needs to be light. Other than that, im not spending iPad money on a watch.

Ah man, sounds a lot like me when I used to run my PowerBook 12 alongside the Technics as a third channel on my mixer, getting a lot of looks like “what is he doing up there?” Being able to write music at home and then play it that night at the club was such an amazing experience.

I think my pendulum swung from having to lug heavy bags of records, two turntables, and a mixer to my gigs to wanting to make it as tiny as possible. I guess it just never swung back.
I love this. Have a soft spot for Mac audio creators. Curious: what software were you using to create with? To perform with? One app? Multiple?

I bought the ultra around Black Friday when it was on sale for 739. I price matched it at Apple and used gift cards I had purchased through several of the gift card deals that were available. I agree it is expensive (even after the discounts) but I like it a lot better than the 44mm 6 I had before. I love the flat screen and the size makes it a lot more usable. Battery life is a major improvement as well. I actually like the additional weight. It feels very solid.

Back then, writing was done using Reason, maybe some mastering in another program but mostly in Reason (maybe 2.5 IIRC? Brian fog...)

Playing live was Traktor, which I still use today. Old habits die hard. The ability to beat jump and have it quantized perfectly was such a mind-blowing concept, especially when cutting my teeth on some turntables.

You complaining about a watch? What about cars? You keep those how many years? The polution and waste of material is crazy......
You complaining about a car? What about a house? Do we really need that much square footage? We should all be sharing living space! The pollution and waste of materials is crazy……

Or, maybe you’re just making an illogical argument to detract from a perfectly legitimate point, which is it might be exceedingly wasteful to use super premium materials on consumer products that are disposed of within a couple of years.

Your fallacy is in trying to refute the point that the above is wasteful by merely pointing out other things that are also wasteful, as though one cancels out the other.

I really hope you aren’t throwing houses away as often as cars or other consumer products.
