That is great customer service, I also have recieved great service. They instantly offered me a $200.00 discount plus my student discount and free expedited shipping on my i7 15 inch with upgraded screen and rushed the order that night to get it out. Very impressed.:apple:

A question to the OP or anyone that also had an faulty USB problem. What were the symptoms that lead you to believe that there was a bad USB port. Im asking because I may be in the same boat with my base line 15" i5 MBP. Today I was copying large Aperture libraries from one external USB drive to another that was connected via Fire Wire and had the process quit on me about 3 or more times. I got a message as if I just pulled the USB plug out during the copying process. Looks like I might be giving Apple a call as well.

While I was initially migrating data from my old hard drive, the drive "was removed without properly ejecting" while remaining firmly connected and completely stationary. But the far more irritating concern is that one of the two ports refuses to mount an external hard drive. Additionally, neither of my ports can properly recognize my iPhone 3GS or sync it completely (the iPhone phantom ejects).

All of these symptoms subsisted through first a reinstall of iTunes, and second and erase and reinstall of OSX using the manufacturer disks.

Thanks for that info! I was just copying a large file library again and the same thing happened. I used the other USB port and after about 5GB of data copied the drive dismounted itself and I got the same error message you mentioned. Looks like Ill be calling Apple tomorrow.

I have a 15" i5 base model and so did the OP. Im not really happy about this either but so far I had good experience with apple care so I hope they can solve this for me.
