First Defective iPhone case

I have always purchased the clear Apple case for the last couple of units I bought and never had any issues with them, but the one I purchased for my iPhone Air just cracked and I have never dropped the phone and always carry it in my front pocket and take extreme care of my devices. I happen to notice it yesterday when went to take the case off and clean the lint on the phone and there was a large crack on the bottom right side of the case, normally it would not have bothered me, but I paid almost $50 for it when I bought the air and can't understand how it just cracked, but it did, oh well, might be the last Apple brand case I buy and might start looking at the aftermarket ones from now on.

Personally I’m not a fan of cases at all. Yeah, that means the occasional Express Replacement that a case might (or might not!) have prevented but I don’t like the bulk or the feel of a case.

My wife & my mom do prefer the feel of a case, though, so I’ve bought a few. None of them from Apple; none for more than $15. If the case gets cracked, I figure it cracked instead of the phone & buy a new one ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The Apple branded clear case hits different on the iPhone Air. However, it always struck me as fragile when removing the case. A micro crack during use could turn to this when you are removing it.

I have always bought the Apple brand cases and have always been able to take them off without cracking the case because they where well made and very durable, this changed my mind on buying any of them in the future. Just ordered an off brand one off Amazon for the Air and will see how it holds up.

Because one Apple case cracked, you are ditching the Apple brand case? That doesn't make sense given the vast amount of cases sold and used, not to mention your positive overall history.

Yeah I wondered about that too - but it is fair to try something different.

I've never bought an Apple branded case because they're over priced. I'm currently using the Torras Q3 Air on my 17PM. I might get myself an Aulumu A17 next.
