Customers in the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia who ordered a HomePod for February 9 delivery have begun receiving shipment notifications from Apple letting them know their orders have shipped and are on the way.

The first HomePod deliveries should begin in just a matter of hours in Australia, where it is already early Friday morning.

Apple is using Next Day Air delivery in the United States and shipping out from local hubs, with tracking information available.

Customers without a tracking number may be able to locate their HomePod's shipping information by going to the UPS website, selecting the track by reference number option, and entering the phone number associated with a HomePod order.

In the United States, HomePod deliveries will kick off at around 8:00 a.m. local time on Friday, February 9, with customers on the East Coast receiving their orders first. Apple is no longer offering the HomePod for February 9 delivery or in-store pickup, but the company will likely have a supply of HomePods available for walk-in purchase in retail stores in the U.S., UK, and Australia on launch day.

Update: This article has been updated to reflect that HomePods are now shipping in the United States and United Kingdom as well.

I suspect the first deliveries won’t start until tomorrow morning (it’s 19.30 in Melbourne where I live) and the tracking information for the order is still showing “no data”. But I suppose that 12 hours from now is technically a “matter of hours”

Looking forward to hearing the reactions from ordinary purchasers re: utility and sound quality after they've put their HomePod through its paces for a couple a days.

Same. I'm on the fence with HomePod vs. Sonos and heavily leaning towards Sonos, but I still have about four months to decide.

Or, you could purchase the HomePod and try it for 14 days in your home determine if you think it will meet your expectations. And it's risk-free or you can simply return it if you don't like it.

Anyways, looking forward to the user reviews.

I could if my situation permitted that. Unfortunately, I'm traveling full time right now and will be doing that for another four months. Once I get my feet planted a new home theater and an array of "smart speakers" are on my to-do list.

Waiting for user reviews until I decide this is something worth giving a try.

Indeed. I have a sinking feeling that all pre-reviewers and members on these boards thought Apple was aiming for speaker quality of the Sonos Play:1 or Play:3 when I think it's more like the B&O BeoPlay M5's which have a 360 degree sound.

Yup, mine dispatched too. (UK)
Coming with DPD, and from the link in the email I got to choose my 1 hour delivery time slot.

Man, I love DPD. Surely the best parcel courier in the UK at the moment, by far..

for customer convenience, sure.

however their policy toward their employees and fining them for being sick is absolutely disgusting and they deserve to be brought down for it!

Not shipping in the US yet for next-day delivery. Or at least that's the case for mine.

Seems like the reviews (and comments here) split depending on which end of the telescope the reviewer was looking down. If they recognized it as a speaker first, with Siri and HomeKit thrown in but secondary, they were generally very positive. If they thought it was just Apple's answer to the Echo, something to stick in the kitchen or bathroom, then they didn't much care for it. We saw the same thing with the watch: those who understood what Apple was trying to do, versus those who said "it's just Apple's version of X, and a poor imitation at that."

I haven't received my shipping notice, but if I track by reference, I can see that it's in Louisville, KY right now with delivery for tomorrow.

With a risk free 14 day return policy, anyone who is on the fence is cheating themselves by not at least giving it a test drive in their own environment.

Though price-wise, it's closer in class to the M3-series... never seen either in-store but if their headphones are anything to go by, it'd be a pretty nice speaker.

Mine shows shipped and I have tracking. It appears that it is in Nashville already so I should receive tomorrow.

I've got three Sonos units (Play 1 (garage workbench), Play 3 (kitchen) and Play 5 (study) but I ordered the HomePod for my study. The Play 5 is going to the patio. Yes, I know, that's definition of a fanboy. The tracking info showed up on UPS a half hour ago and it's scheduled for delivery tomorrow. Then I've got two weeks to see if it meets my needs; otherwise, it goes back to a nearby Apple Store for refund. I have no doubt the sound quality is there but if Siri from afar doesn't cut the mustard, this baby is not staying.
