I made the mistake of not putting the phone fully in my pocket rushing to get out of the car which I don’t know why I just didn’t try and get it fully in my pocket. Either way I have a simple black case on the phone and it did land on its back after a fall from waste high on the concrete garage floor.
No cracks on front or back but is there anything else I need to look out for of any damage I could have caused that isn’t visible or is this just a lucky close call?

Your first drop of that phone that was on the back and not even that far down? You'll be perfectly fine. :p

might be true. But hard concrete garage floor... and water down is pretty high... how higher Can drops happen from besides being by your ear. And it landed on the back after it bounced off the Side/top I think.

So if there’s no damage, what else could you possibly be looking for that you’d have to ask someone on here? I guess that’s like me asking somebody, “I backed my car into a shopping cart in the parking lot, but I didn’t see any damage, is there anything else I should be looking for?“ 😁

Most of the time, when a phone lands on its flat surface (front or back) you'll be fine, as the force is spread out into a large surface area. The problem is when the phone lands on the floor on one of its corners. That's usually when things go south.

I don’t recall who it was, but there was interesting YouTube demonstration, where a Youtuber was dropping newer model iPhones from approximately 5 feet onto different ‘hard’ surfaces, and every time they dropped it, the phone shattered. Why? Because of it consists of an all-glass construction. There really is no ‘safe angle’ for a phone to land on, rather it be on the corner or flat, when you consider smart phones with the added weight and fragile construction, it won’t survive unless you have a quality/rugged case.

I've dropped phones on several occasions, always on concrete and face down. The Apple leather cases have gotten scuffed up on the edges a bit, but never any physical damage to the phones and they continued to work fine.

Hard to beat the original SE for ruggedness. I never had a case of any type and I dropped it numerous times on a variety of surfaces and it is still working well with no cracks or scratches on the screen or back. Shame they need to make glass bodies these days.

Yeah, I hate the glass bodies these days.

The thing is that all the components inside are in a very confined space and screwed down. There also tends to be lots of glue, used fairly liberally in places.

If the device is working fine then don't worry about it. Because of what I mentioned above it's not likely that a cable or anything like that detached or became loose.

Apple designs these things to withstand a certain amount of shock.

I've dropped various iPhone models over the years and all are still functioning fine.

Lol, this is the sort of question one asks when their car is in a fender bender.

Nah, you’ll be fine, these phones are built super tight with heavy amounts of adhesive, the worst thing may be that your camera may have had a little shake on the OIS system but nothing should be broken. If nothing broke then the case did it’s job and absorbed the hit.

My phone was a couple of days old when I shoved it in my pajama pants pocket and ventured to the basement to clean the litter box. While I was scooping clumps my phone slid out and bounced off the concrete floor. I could have filled that box myself. Luckily there was not a scratch on it and I received my case from the mail within the next couple of days. I tried to be brave and go without a case. I’ve seen the YouTube videos and I still don’t care. At least with my case I can drop it and I know it will be fine. I’ve got that Mous case that you can treat your phone as a weapon with. Sounds like a brick when it hits the floor.

Thanks for the feedback guys... I think it should be alright it had a case and I haven’t noticed any difference... so should be all good.

if that did happen would I notice it? And how can I fix it it did happen?

I had a case on my iP7 for a while then went caseless. Dropped it like 10 times including dropping it onto my concrete driveway and watching it slide all the way down the driveway face down. Besides some tiny scratches on the screen it was fine. Decided to stay caseless with my 2020 SE. I've already dropped it at least 3 times on my wood floor and it's fine so far.

A youtuber will go to great lengths to obtain hits/views. What's important here is the OP's experience.

This is blanketed. There are a lot of smaller, condensed YouTube channels with minimal subscribers that genuinely like to demonstrate their ‘tech experiences’ to a small Fanbase through videos. Not every ‘Youtuber’ is out for significant monetary gains for ‘hits’.

I’d agree. Although What you mentioned in your previous post about ‘how a Phone landsM, certainly is all mutually exclusive based on various tests showing how iPhone can suffer damage.

That would not happen. The OIS cannot be broken that easily with drops.
