Er right, just to save anyone else the bother of clicking the link all the clip shows is about 15 seconds of video of a 3GS box on a desk taken with some sort of unspecified camera that might or might not be an iPhone.

Could easily be. Do you think that someone in a shop getting deliveries of the 3GS for tomorrow might not think to take a peek and have a play?! :)

Still no indication if the video is taken with a 3GS or not though.
If it is, my decision to wait before upgrading just got more difficult to stick to ;)

did you add the music to the second video from within the iPhone itself?

I think it's a good assumption that's what we're supposed to think. So either that's it or it's an intentional fake. They were probably showing the box for a macro demo. Looks awesome if that's what it is. I mean, it's not going to beat my HVX200 P2 camera, but it certainly looks like a great YouTube camera.

If that is actually video from the 3Gs, that's really good. That blows the video from my blackberry out of the water.

duh it was taken with the iPhone 3GS thats the whole point of the thread

Proof? Video with iPhone visible in mirror/reflection in monitor etc.?

Edit - 2nd video has different aspect ratio to first, so at a minimum it's been through iMovie or equivalent.

I hope it's not. The whites are so blown out that the video looks foggy, as if a "dream state" effect had been applied. Resolution looks good, but ouch! Yes, it's just video from a phone so you can't expect too much, but man those whites are blown out!

I'd prefer to have blown highlights than have really murky videos. Auto exposure is a difficult thing to get right. In these videos there are plenty of scenes with really dark and light bits in the frame at the same time. The results look great - if this turns out to genuinely be from the iPhone then I think video is going to be a very popular feature.

can anyone explain why the aspect ratios of the two videos are different?

The fact that the point of the thread is to show the video quality of the 3GS doesn't automatically mean the video is shot on the 3GS. Call me cynical, but people have been known to mislead others on the internet - I'm not saying you fall into that classification but you can't be too careful... ;)

Don't get me wrong, I hope it is from the 3GS, and I do want to believe you, but until there is definite proof I'm going to keep the salt handy...
