I just got my first a Mac, a 2.4 Blackbook and I have a few questions.
First, is there an easy way to get all my files off of my old desktop? It doesn't have a dvd burner and I don't have any high volume storage (no ipods or external hdd's) but they are on the same wifi network.
Second, is there any way to maximize the windows for Safari, Itunes, and Garageband?

Welcome to Macrumors

With regards to your first question, you can either setup a network share on your Macbook, or on your old computer to connect. On the MacBook, it is quite easy to setup a Windows share for use on your PC.

Here is a tutorial from Apple, one of many on their site that you may find helpful.

And one more on Windows sharing.
