First Mac Repair?

My mac is going in for repair, it's my first time and I'm unsure what to do. Do I need to package it in its original box? Do I need to label it? Put apple's stock ram back in?

I would put the stock Ram/HD in just to avoid having to get them back in the event they replace something especially the whole laptop.

I know but how do I protect it and do I need the power cable?

If you're not shipping it just carry it in your laptop bag or whatever. The repair shop isn't going to rough it up.

Do they keep the bag while it's in repair?

No the bag is for your transport to and from the store only. They have two hands that can transport it from there.

Can I ask why you are sending the iMac away? 😕

It's a MBP not an iMac 😛 and the superdrive is broken. I could easily fix it but I'd void my warranty + it's a free repair so hey 🙂

I would consider putting stock RAM back in too, to protect the warranty further, at least read the Apple Warranty T&C's to see if they could make it an issue? Depending on the warranty? The one year limited warranty T&C's is below.

if they were quick about it they could have it back in 20 minutes, but my guess is 1-3 days
