Apple today provided the first beta of an upcoming macOS Tahoe 26.6 update to developers for testing purposes, with the update coming two weeks after Apple launched macOS Tahoe 26.5.

Developers can download the macOS Tahoe 26.6 update by opening up the System Settings app, selecting the General category, and then choosing Software Update. Beta Updates will need to be enabled, and a free developer account is required.

With macOS 27 set to be unveiled in less than a month, Apple is likely focusing most of its attention on the new software. We are not expecting any major new features in macOS Tahoe 26.6.

The beta is limited to developers right now, but a public beta is expected in the next week or two.

I just now found out that there is no hope for this to fix my iMac. The 5k display is, despite the immense cost of all the computing in this 2020 model I bought for 4500€, murdering the intel chips with the Liquid Glass transparency.

All you have to do is go in the system settings, accessibility, turn of transparency and the machine immediately cools down. Apple just decided to fry your computer without telling you. You can also go in motion and turn on "reduce motion" to further stop this unnecessary over computing. It's a gigantic difference within minutes on my end. I feel so much relief after this fan has been spinning for 3/4 of a year.

I had to work on a machine running Sequoia the other day, and it reminded me how much of a downgrade the Tahoe UI is. Especially the comically large window corners.
Heh… I had the exact opposite experience yesterday, got to work on a new MBA running Tahoe 26.5. 😱 It is SO bad.

It is SO BAD that I have been considering purchasing a new MacBook (Air or Pro) before RAM and NAND pricing really bite, and have been waffling between getting a new M5/Pro unit or a leftover M4/Pro unit… and pretty much the decision got made (for the M4 Pro) by Tahoe, since I could downgrade the M4 Pro to Sequoia and keep it there. Nothing like having to take a 4-hour detour drive to avoid Tahoe.

While iOS 26.5 works well, MacOS 26.5 has numerous things that break: namely the linkage of iMessaging with Finder -- if one breaks, the other breaks as well. Previously MacOS separated the two but now they're linked.

If iMessages aren't synced with Finder, both go down. True idiocy.

With 26.6, Brave is having issues with "energy usage" in Activity Monitor. Makes the whole laptop warm and fans sometimes spin (M4Pro, 48GB). It's not many tabs, and I NEVER had the issue before. My wife does since she has 100+ tabs open in 26.5. That's annoying, so hoping for a fix via Apple and/or Brave (but likely Apple since issues was not there before for me).

can you explain what you mean exactly and how to reproduce?

the idea of having 100+ tabs open gives me a great deal of stress!
